The DCD>Connect | Madrid 2024 event, held on May 21 and 22 at the Eurostars Madrid Tower, showcased a significant gathering of companies and investment funds involved in the data center industry. This event underscores the growing focus and development of the sector, highlighting the increasing demand for data infrastructure to support digital transformation and connectivity globally.
The number of attendees was a record with nearly 1,800 people from 14 different countries representing an impressive 184 data center projects. These projects collectively entail a substantial 1,595 megawatts (MW) of power capacity and a hefty investment totaling 9,872 million euros. The attendees also included participants from Data Center associations from different countries, representing a network of companies and professionals from across the DC ecosystem.
In particular, the presence of PortugalDC was highlighted with the participation of its vice-presidents Rita Lourenço and Carlos Paulino in a DCD>Talks panel under the subject “PortugalDC: Key developments of a market that is in the spotlight”. The number of attendees during the panel demonstrates the interest and appetite for the opportunities that the country currently offers to the industry.
PortugalDC’s member representation throughout the event has been expanded and reflects Portugal’s active involvement in the expansion of the data center market, which is essential for the growth of the country’s digital economy. The exchange of experiences and collaboration with other international associations help to strengthen the country’s position as an emerging hub in Europe.
